Tuition:

  • Tuition is due the last lesson of the month for the following month and will be based on the number of lessons in the following month.

  • You will receive an invoice for the amount due on or about the third week of the month.

  • Please contact me before hand if you know that you will be missing a lesson in the month to be billed.

  • Number of lessons in a month with a special holiday will be negotiated ahead of time.

  • Payment is to be made at the last lesson of each month for the following month’s lessons.

  • I accept online payments, credit cards, cash and checks.

  • You are responsible for paying for the cost of your child’s music and any supplementary materials (such as flash cards, theory workbooks, etc.). This cost is in addition to the lesson fee.  When music and/or materials are purchased for your child, I will provide you with an itemized list of said music and materials and their cost, including sales tax. Payment for music and supplementary materials is due no later than the next scheduled lesson.

  • Please make checks out to Sue Vinsant

Makeup lessons:

  • MAKEUP LESSONS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE ONLY FOR LESSONS THAT HAVE BEEN CHANGED OR CANCELLED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE, OR IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.

  • If must cancel a scheduled lesson (and I probably will have to at one time or another), I will make it up at a time that is mutually convenient.  If we cannot find a time that will work for both of us, I will credit your lesson forward to the next month.

Termination of lessons:

If lessons are terminated in the middle of a month, the remainder of that month’s tuition will not be refunded.

LESSON GUIDELINES:

  • Lesson times are scheduled at the mutual agreement of teacher and client, subject to the availability of open lesson times.
  • Promptness is requested. If a student is late for a lesson, the lesson will conclude at the normal time.
  • Parents are encouraged to attend lessons so that they will be aware of what is being taught during the lesson and what will be expected in practice during the week.
  • Please do not bring friends to your piano lesson. No toys are to be brought to the studio. If you are to wait through your sibling’s lesson, then quiet activities and books are acceptable, however gameboys and other electronic games are discouraged unless they have a mute button.
  • My Music Library offers the students a chance to play from a variety of books without having to purchase them. Any borrowed music that is not returned or is returned damaged will be charged to the student at its replacement cost.

LATE ARRIVALS:

15 minute Online and In Person Lessons:  Lesson will be terminated if the student is 5 minutes late.  The lesson will be charged as an unexcused absence.

30 minute Online and In Person Lessons:  Lesson will be terminated if the students is 10 minutes late.  The lesson will be charge as an unexcused absence.

WHAT ABOUT THE SUMMER?

I STRONGLY urge students to continue to take lessons over the summer.  You have invested a lot of time, effort and money in your lessons.  You don’t want to lose the progress you have made by stopping your lessons over the summer.  It is only 30 minutes a week.  I will be happy to work with you to arrange a time that works with your summer schedule.  I understand that many families take family vacations during the summer.  That is not a problem.  Just let me know and we will schedule your lessons around your vacation.  Students that continue to take during the summer will get first choice on scheduling their lessons when school begins again.

GENERAL POLICIES:

Recitals are planned bi-yearly.  That information will be provided for you when appropriate.

Appropriate attire for all public performances is expected, i.e., skirts or dresses for girls, dress shirt and slacks for boys - please, no jeans or other casual clothing!

An acoustical piano is far preferable to an electric piano.  If you prefer to use an electric piano, you need to make sure it has a full keyboard, weighted keys, a pedal and a bench.

The student's piano should be tuned at least once a year as a minimum and placed in an area of the home which is conducive to productive study and practice, preferably away from the mainstream of family activity.  If you need help locating a piano tuner, I will be happy to provide you with some names.

Thank you! If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me either by phone or email.
